Fifty years of parts that have to be right.
EFI is a custom injection molder in Troy, Michigan. Molding, over-molding, tooling and assembly under an IATF 16949:2016 registered quality system — ITAR registered, and a certified Women’s Business Enterprise.
What EFI is
A molder that owns the whole part, not one operation.
EFI has been a custom injection molder since 1976, and has expanded steadily across tooling, molding, over-molding, laser marking and assembly — through in-house operations, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
The customer base today is globally diversified and balanced between automotive and non-automotive work, run out of Troy, Michigan.

Capabilities
Everything a molded part needs, under one roof.
Injection molding is the core of the business. Tooling, over-molding, marking and assembly are built around it — and molded, over-molded and assembled components all sit inside EFI’s registered IATF 16949 scope.

Injection molding: inside the press
Injection molding
- 01
Hopper
Plastic pellets are fed into the molding machine.
- 02
Barrel & screw
Material is heated and conveyed forward by a rotating screw.
- 03
Injection
Molten polymer is injected into the mold under pressure.
- 04
Mold
The material fills the cavity and takes the required shape.
- 05
Cooling
The part cools and solidifies against the mold surfaces.
- 06
Ejection
The finished part is released from the mold.
An illustration of the injection molding process on a two-platen press of the type EFI runs. It is a technical representation, not a scan of a specific machine, and no dimensions or process parameters should be inferred from it.
How a program runs
From a print to a packed skid.
Every stage below is something EFI does. Nothing here is outsourced language for “we will find someone.”
Concept & Review
We start from your print or model and talk through what the part has to do, the volume it has to hit, and the timing you are working to.
Prototype & Validate
3D printed sample parts prove geometry, fit and material direction before anyone commits a tool.
Tooling
We build the mold - prototype tools through large-scale production molds - specified for the program it has to run.
Sampling
First parts off the tool, reviewed against the print and the process before production is released.
Production Molding
Molding and over-molding under an IATF 16949:2016 registered quality management system.
Marking
Precision laser engraving for part identification, branding and labeling, applied in-house.
Assembly
Components built up into finished assemblies - inside the same certified scope as the molding.
Delivery
A quality product, delivered on time, at value-added pricing. That is the standard the company has run on.
Industries
Built for customers who audit their suppliers.
Automotive since 1976, ITAR registered for defense work, and a diversified base of industrial and consumer programs.
01 Industry
Automotive
EFI started in automotive in 1976 and never left. The quality system, the location and the habits are all automotive.

Quality
We don’t just make parts. We run a process customers can audit.
